The film opens with Professor Mangetsu and his daughter Miyoko learning that a giant black hole has destroyed the space probe Voyager 5 and is heading toward Earth. Nobita, frustrated with problems at school and home, wishes magic existed. Doraemon dismisses it, but after mysterious statues appear, they use the "What if" Telephone Booth to enter a world where magic is normalized. There, they meet Miyoko, who reveals a demonic planet will destroy Earth. Her mother made a deal with the Demon King to save Miyoko from death. The group seeks a tome of magic to defeat the demons, but a false Miyoko (Medusa) attacks them. They find the real Miyoko turned into a mouse, and later a cat. They travel to the Demon Planet, where they are turned to stone. Dorami, Doraemon's sister, rescues them. They return to defeat the Demon King by destroying his heart, a red moon on the Demon Planet. Afterward, they return to the real world, where Nobita forgets everything but still tries to cast a spell.
